Fight Card Breakdown – Caged Steel 38, Doncaster.

Caged Steel 38 – Night of Champions hits Doncaster on December 7th, 2024. This event is truly one for the history books, with seven title fights on the card, and a great supporting lineup, spanning Professional MMA, Amateur MMA and Caged Boxing. Headlining the show is an intense World Title fight between UK prospect Adam Bramhald and Brazils prestigious, Altamiro de Jesus, showcasing the best talent in MMA.

With currently 16 thrilling bouts lined up, and a few more expected to add to the card, fans can expect non-stop action, adrenaline, and skill from fighters across the globe. Read on to learn highlights about each fight in our Fight Card breakdown.

Professional MMA Title Bout (Bantamweight – 61.2KG): Altamiro De Jesus vs. Adam Bramhald

Altamiro De Jesus (10-2-3), a Brazilian from Maranhão, brings his Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills to the cage. Ranked 14th in Northeast Brazil, he’s known for powerful striking. Facing him is England’s Adam Bramhald (13-3-0), the current Bantamweight World Champion, making his 14th appearance with Caged Steel. A Muay Thai enthusiast from AVT MMA, Bramhald’s experience and title status make him a tough opponent. Adam aims to get back on track with his dream and return to Dana White’s Contender Series, and then on to the UFC. Altamiro desires to be the first Brazilian World Champion and honour his country. Professional MMA Title Bout (Welterweight – 77.1KG): Aron Leo vs. Jonny Brocklesby

Aron Leo (2-0-0), hailing from Reykjavik, Iceland, is a striking specialist who’s fought three times at Caged Steel. He faces Jonny Brocklesby (5-2-0) from England’s Gorilla Fight Team in Gainsborough. With ten years in the cage and a wrestling background, Brocklesby is making his ninth Caged Steel appearance. Aron Leo jumped into the limelight with his outstanding Professional debut again Bradley Tedham on Caged Steel 36 where he secured a jaw dropping 10 second knockout. Jonny Brocklesby is known for his relentless nature within the cage, consistently applying pressure round after round. He’s an extremely tough and durable athlete. This match pits Icelandic striking power against English wrestling skill, creating a compelling showdown for the welterweight title.

Professional MMA Bout (Welterweight – 77.1KG): Lucas Tenorio Luco vs. Faz Ali

Lucas Tenorio Luco a highly experienced athlete, representing both Spain and Brazil, fights out of Madrid with a well-rounded approach and a history of submission victories. Faz Ali (7-1-0), from Aspire MMA in Liverpool, enters his second Caged Steel bout representing his home country of Pakistan. Ali was riding an eight-win streak until his last encounter on Caged Steel 37 where his return to the cage after some time out was a tougher adjustment than expected. He hit a road block with his first loss, however this time he feels mentally and physically prepared to get back on track. Known for his submission skills, Ali has proven tough to beat. This clash of tenacity and technique is set to be an intense battle, with both fighters eager to make their mark.

Amateur MMA Title Bout (Lightweight – 70.3KG): Jhoan Salinas vs. Mason Yarrow

Jhoan Salinas (5-1-0) from RVK MMA in Iceland, a former welterweight champion with grappling expertise, enters his sixth Caged Steel appearance. Johan consistently surprises the crowd with his cage domination and skill. He is becoming a popular figure amongst Icelandic MMA fans. His opponent, England’s Mason Yarrow (5-1-0) from AVT MMA, and living in Dunscroft, Doncaster, is a Taekwondo World Champion known for KO power. Mason’s striking ability is unique, unpredictable and extremely clever. Not having trained in MMA long, you would think his ground game is weaker, however he presents time after time a strong well rounded approach in the cage. This title bout brings contrasting styles to the cage, promising a high-octane fight.

Amateur MMA Title Bout (Bantamweight – 63KG): Yonatan Francisco vs. Arran Oliphant

Former Caged Steel champion Yonatan Francisco (4-1-0), representing both El Salvador and Iceland, is known for going the distance in every fight. Hailing from RVK MMA, Yonatan defies the odds and has progressively shown to be a force to be reckoned with in the cage. He has an explosive, well rounded fight style. Facing him is Scotland’s Arran Oliphant (5-1-0) from Higher Level MMA, who prefers striking and can deal serious damage in the cage. Arran replaced Stephen, his teammate, who was originally set to face Yonatan. However, he’s sustained an infection making him incapable of continuing with his fight camp. We wish him all the best and his recovery. Arran is a huge prospect in Scottish MMA. This is Francisco’s fourth Caged Steel fight, and Oliphant’s undeniable skill promises a gripping fight for the amateur bantamweight title.

Caged Boxing 10oz Title Bout (Lightweight – 70KG): Hameed Olajide vs. Archie Jones

Standing in for Arron Wales is a new opponent for Archie Jone in, Hameed Olajide from Manchester (11-2-0), a forward-moving fighter from Paulinos Boxing, takes on current Caged Steel champion Archie Jones (9-1-0) from Francos Boxing Club in Gainsborough. Archie hails from Retford, Doncaster. Jones, making his fourth Caged Steel appearance, will aim to defend his title with a blend of skill and precision. His previous performances, win or lose, have been some of the most entertaining Caged Boxing we’ve seen on Caged Steel. Archie generates an exciting atmosphere amongst the crowd. With Arron having his eyes on Archie and the Lightweight title, he has the determination to see him through this victory and dethrone Jones. Both guys share a similar fight style, calculated, explosive and relentless.

Amateur MMA Bout (Featherweight – 65.8KG): Hákon örn Arnórsson vs. Alex Tamas

Iceland’s Hákon örn Arnórsson (1-2-0), a wrestler from RVK MMA, faces Alex Tamas (1-0-0) from Grimsby’s Fight Ministry Humberston, who’s a grappling specialist. This is Arnórsson’s and Tamas’ second Caged Steel appearance, adding familiarity to their styles and intensifying this featherweight clash. Hákon was initially set to fight Jack Stevenson in a long awaited rematch. Fans are going to have to wait till March 2025 for this clash to go ahead. Credit to Alex for jumping in on short notice to fight.

Amateur MMA Bout (Featherweight – 63KG): Jack Terry vs. Talha Jamil

Jack Terry, fighting out of HD Performance Centre, steps into the cage for his second appearance at Caged Steel. Training under UFC veteran Marc Diakiese, Jack has shown immense promise with a 3-1 record. Last time, he narrowly missed out on a title against Yonatan Francisco in a close judges’ decision. Now, he’s back, driven by redemption and determined to return to winning ways.

Opposing him is Talha Jamil from the highly regarded Fearless MMA gym. Known for producing top-tier fighters, Fearless MMA backs Talha with a reputation for technical precision and a relentless work ethic. This featherweight contest is set to be a battle of skill as both fighters aim to leave their mark on the division

Amateur MMA Bout (Welterweight – 77.1KG): Andrew Green vs. Ryan Shaw

Andrew Green (3-2-0), a striker, takes on Royal Marines veteran Ryan Shaw (3-2-0) from Lockdown MMA in Lincoln. Shaw’s wrestling skills contrast with Green’s striking, promising a tactical bout in the welterweight division that will test their technique and resilience. Both athletes return to Caged Steel to fight for the win, enabling them to challenge for a Caged Steel title.

Caged Boxing 4oz Bout (Lightweight – 70.3KG): James Darkes vs. Brandon Jackson

Experienced James Darkes (15-43-0) from Manchester, a title-holder across promotions with a thrill for knockout victories, faces Brandon Jackson (4-0-0) from Eco Fitness in Doncaster, a former Caged Steel champion. Jackson, fighting in 4oz gloves for the first time, brings a new dynamic to this bout, which promises high-impact action. Both guys are known for their fast paced relentless fight style. We don’t see this fight going the distance.

Amateur MMA Bout (Featherweight – 65.8KG): Deaken Demes vs. Alex Smith

In this featherweight clash, Doncaster’s Deaken Demes debuts from Doncaster Martial Arts Centre with a background in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He’ll test his ground game against Lincoln-based Alex Smith (1-1-0), a striking specialist with six years of training. Alex currently trains at Lockdown MMA as he attends Lincoln University for his studies in sport science. With contrasting skills and hometown pride on the line, this debut bout for Demes will be one to watch.

Amateur MMA Bout (Bantamweight – 61.2KG): AJ Hall vs. Yusuf Suheyl

AJ Hall, fighting out of HD Performance Centre under the guidance of UFC veteran Marc Diakiese, returns to Caged Steel with a 1-1 record. AJ is eager to bounce back from his last loss and prove himself in the bantamweight division. With his sharp striking and relentless pace, AJ promises to bring an exciting style to the cage.

On the other side, Yusuf Suheyl from the renowned Fearless MMA enters with a 2-1 record. Yusuf’s contrasting style, honed at one of the most respected gyms in the sport, making him a formidable challenge.

This bout promises fireworks as two fighters with opposing yet thrilling styles collide in a battle that will test their skill, heart, and strategy.

Cage Boxing 10oz Bout (Super Lightweight – 72KG): Morgan Smith vs. Owen Paterson

Morgan Smith, hailing from Grimsby and making his Caged Steel debut, faces Belton’s Owen Paterson. Paterson, has trained and fought for only a year, however he brings confidence to the cage, making this an intriguing match-up of fresh talent and tested skill. Morgan has experience in the Junior boxing scene but looks to take his fighting to the next level. Expect a fast paced fight, they’ve got three, two minute rounds to showcase what they’ve got.

Amateur MMA Bout (Lightweight – 70.3KG): Michael Reagan vs. Caine Walker

Michael Reagan from Doncaster Martial Arts Centre makes his debut against Caine Walker, a confident striker and grappler under UFC veteran Marc Diakiese’s guidance from HD Performance Centre. Both representing Doncaster, this local rivalry amps up the excitement, as each fighter aims to prove their dominance in the cage.

Caged Boxing 10oz bout (Lightweight – 72KG): Riley Pipe vs Dylan Smith

In this great lightweight Caged Boxing bout, debutant Riley Pipe from Eco Fitness, Doncaster, takes on Dylan Smith of Kingdom Boxing Academy, Scunthorpe. Dylan, with a 2-3 record, brings experience and a relentless forward-moving style, while Riley remains unfazed, confident in his skills to secure a debut victory. Both fighters share an aggressive approach, promising non-stop action over three, two-minute rounds. Expect an explosive, crowd-pleasing battle as these two warriors collide in the cage.

Amateur MMA Bout (Welterweight – 77KG): Alex Hartley vs. Jamie Stinton

Selby’s Alex Hartley debuts on Caged Steel after being a long term fan, with a preferred striking background, he is facing Lincoln’s Jamie Stinton (0-1-0), who’s also a striker. Both fighters are making their Caged Steel debut, setting the stage for an exciting stand-up battle in the super lightweight division.

Amateur MMA Bout (Bantamweight – 62KG): Nasrat Safi vs. Drew Cooper

Nasrat Safi from Fearless MMA steps into the Caged Steel cage for the first time, bringing an impressive 2-0 record and a hunger to continue his undefeated streak. Opposing him is Drew Cooper from HD Performance Centre, making his debut with a confident mindset. Despite Nasrat’s experience, Drew is determined to showcase his skills, learn from the fight, and deliver an entertaining performance. This bout promises to highlight the next wave of MMA talent in an exciting bantamweight clash.
