Glenn Irvine to challenge for the Caged Steel MW Title

Next Gen NI’s Glenn Irvine (1-2) will challenge for the Caged Steel Fighting Championship middleweight title this July when he takes on the returning champ Marcin Prostko (4-3).

Irvine had a rocky start to his pro career after losing to two veterans of the Irish MMA scene in John Redmond and Keith McCabe back to back under the BAMMA banner. However, in March Irvine competed at CSFC 17 and scored a first round KO win over Rob Fulton (Click Here to See).

That victory earned Irvine a crack at the promotions middleweight title. He will challenge Marcin Prostko. The Polish fighter returned to the promotion after short stints in other MMA promotions.

Prostko turned pro in 2014 and went on a 4-0 run, including winning three fights in the CSFC promotion, his most notable win coming over 60+ fight journeyman Shaun Lomas. He has since lost three straight though, two via submission.

In another article written by Combat Vision MMA, Glenn Irvine opened up to a short Q&A.

Combat Vision MMA spoke to Glenn about the fight announcement, his opponent and if he felt his last fight which was his first professional victory against Rob Fulton at Caged Steel FC17 was a turning point in his career.

“It feels great to be fighting for my first pro title. I’m only at the start of my pro career. But, I earned the title shot with my last performance. I fought for four titles in my amateur career in two different weight groups and I won them all. I believe, I can win this one too”

“Marcin is tough and comes from a really good camp. But, I feel I can take the title from him, I know I have got what it takes to beat him. I watched a few of his fights he can be hit and he can be taken down and I am quite good at doing both, so he is very beatable. My last fight against Rob, who is a really sound and down to earth guy. was a great win and something that I really needed after a two fight losing streak. It was something, that I always knew I was capable of and I finally got to show it. If you look at all my fights, I come to fight every time; I don’t come to win on points”

“I see the fight ending with my hand raised, Marcin is tough. But, if I catch him clean he’s going down!”
