Branden Guest: It makes you feel alive!
Evo MMA’s Branden Guest (1-0) will be making his second Caged Steel appearance on December 2nd, after an impressive debut at CSFC 17 back in March.
Guest picked up a first round TKO victory over Stanislav Daleckis, and confirmed his status as a top Doncaster prospect in defeating his more experienced opponent.
After having his taste of the crowd at Doncaster Dome, he can’t wait to be back.
“It’s an amazing event, great atmosphere and it makes you feel alive!” said the local man.
Guest started his martial arts career in kickboxing after being bullied at the tender age of 6, though it’s unlikely many would try the same thing now. The 88kg man has gone on to win area and British titles in kickboxing, and then expanded his journey to other arts.
Trained in boxing, BJJ and Muay Thai, he made the obvious switch to mixed martial arts after showing aptitude in all ranges.
“Mainly kickboxing is my game,” he revealed, before adding, “but taking it to the ground is where I want to be.”
His versatility will serve him well in a sport that demands you are well-rounded, and although he is still based at EVO where he began his kickboxing journey, he has not been afraid to seek out tuition elsewhere.
“Being a blue belt in BJJ for 2 years I feel strong and confident on the ground, and having lessons of Ian Jones my no gi game has increased.
“I’ve been training at EVO MMA for 13 years now doing a mixed variety of martial arts and over the last 2 years training at other places too such as Mission Muay Thai, Ludus Magnus, Sesku, DMAC, Combat Base, CMMA etc., testing myself with different people.”
In his first performance he showed us a glimpse of his potential, and on December 2nd at CSFC 19 he’ll be hoping to showcase even more.
